Claire Stewart has inherited her father’s freighting business based in 1864 Denver, Colorado. Determined to prove she is capable of running the business on her own, Claire must compete against a wealthy businessman who wants to bring her down. Two Wolves, half Cheyenne, scouts for the U. S. Army. He is determined to prove that white men have been committing raids against their own kind in order to fuel the fires of hatred of Colorado citizens against the Cheyenne. When he rescues Claire from just such an attack, he is struck by her fiery independence and youthful beauty. Most of all, he admires her brave attempt to save her father’s business and to help Two Wolves prove that her attack was by white men, led by the very businessman who is her competitor. Through events that keep forcing these two together and cause Two Wolves to risk his life in Claire’s defense more than once, a bond develops that turns into a steamy attraction between a tiny, red-headed young white woman and a powerful, brave, handsome Indian warrior. This attraction leads to a hot, forbidden romance that develops into a memorable “against-all-odds” love story. Set against the true history of atrocities committed by the Colorado militia against peaceful Cheyenne, CAPTURE MY HEART brings to light the struggle of the southern Cheyenne to survive amid more and more white settlement; and it shows the courage of Indians and certain brave whites alike in trying to keep the peace during one of the most difficult periods in Colorado history.

I have enjoyed reading many of Roseanne Bittner's stories. They are all well written, incorporating historical facts about America's early growth that I enjoy reading about. Though her books are classified as historical romance novels, they always tell an intelligent story about the hero and the heroine.I liked reading this story, however, I can't say it was one of my most favorites. I enjoy more of her stories whose main characters are more complex. Most of the author's stories can be deemed predictable, meaning that the hero always gets the heroine, as was the case in this story. Though having said that doesn't mean the stories are mundane. On the contrary. The author draws the reader into the story.by making the characters real and compelling; relatable. This story, as many of her others, revolves around the incredible hardships people endured to live in the west during the nineteenth century. Extreme prejudice due to ignorance against the native Americans waged wars, and unspeakable atrocities between them and the whites. Two Wolves, a lonely half-breed army scout, and Clair, a lonely, young woman who has no family and continues to run her father's business after he dies, meet under dire circumstances, and fall in love. The prejudice of the town, Denver City, Colorado, that time in history had no time for Indians - as did other states. There were few people who actually saw an Indian as a human being, and treated them respectfully. It was lawful to shoot an Indian on sight! As the story goes, they both refuse to let hatred dictate that they cannot be together and marry. The story portrays the need for love and acceptance for the human spirit to survive. That love wins out, no matter what! The relationship between the two is strong and endearing. Together, they battle and win against the evil in the town that threatens to hang Two Wolves for the atrocities that someone else led. A man that had tried and failed to murder Clair. It's a bit of a nail biter towards the end.
For sensitive readers:
I like real stories that are not watered down. My only complaint in this story is the amount of explicit sex scenes. It's almost as if the author is filling the pages. You don't need it to make a story real, and good. I don't mind a little 'steam'...but... Over kill! That audience will find plenty of other books filled with it.
Language was mild mostly all the way through. The 'f' bomb was dropped a couple times.

Capture My Heart Rosanne Bittner 9781940941882 Books Reviews
Sorry, but I am such a fan I don't know what else to say about her books. I really enjoyed this book, as I did all the other ones I read. I think I give a glowing review of all the books I have read so far.
I have read alot of Ms Bittners books and this one is a keeper!! I hope there will be sequel about this family??!!! Two Wolfes and Clair are unforgettable!!
Roseanne did it again with yet another wonderful story! There is not one book of hers that I have read that I didn't fall in love with. Two Wolves and Claire are a perfect match. I can see a sequel to this book.
Historical Fiction books are based on the truth, with some fill in words or scenes so the book isn't so dry. Trust me straight History is very dry reading. No romance, no drama, no feelings. Just the facts Ma'am . At least this way one can learn something. It is good to learn something each day. I have read Ms. Bittners' other books. There is always something to learn. P.S. I love the gentle, relaxing, soothing love scenes!!
I have read every book by Rosanne Bittner that have been able to get my hands on. I so love her stories and I'm an avid historical romance reader. I was thrilled to get my hands on her newest book, since being without a Bittner book for some time, not many authors can make you actually feel the emotions right along with the characters in the book. Great job once again, and can't wait for the sequel.
This is a must read. Interesting from start to finish. Two Wolves is an Army Scout out to prove White men are raiding settlers and blaming the Cheyenne. Claire is a lone trying to hold on to her freight company. The two join together and sparks fly. I enjoyed this book.
I have read almost all bitter books, so was excited to find one I hadn't read. I think the story would have so much better without all the sex and both heroines not being constantly shot at, beat up or sick. I flipped through the sexual stuff.. The basis story line was okay but most of it similar to other of her books, that being the white girl and half breed Indian trying to survive the prejudices that come with their relationship. Definitely not one of my favorites.
